On Friday 5th February the Do It Award Interviews took place in our London offices. These awards are for 18-21 year olds who want to run long term projects that impact and make a change to the young people in their community. Competition for this award is pretty fierce but definetely worth it as you could get up to £10, 000!
On Friday six young people battled it out to get their projects chosen. The people who had to make this decision were our three youth panel members Peace, Paul and Rebecca from London and South of England region. They spent the day listening to 6 different pitches and then the decision was up to them who got funded.
We had some truely amazing pitches with projects ranging from cooking to dance to fashion. Was great hearing about all the fantastic work young people are doing!
As a result we funded over £42, 000!
The applications are now open for the next round of Do It Award Funding. The deadline is Monday 12th April 2010. So if you have a sport or recreational project which you would like funding and support to make it bigger and better then please get in touch. The full details and application form are online.

We thought we’d just let everyone know that today is ‘Safer Internet Day’.
In 2009 Safer Internet Day was celebrated through 500 events in 50 countries all over the world, with even more participants this year.
Safer Internet Day occurs each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. The topic for 2010 is “Think B4 U post!“.
This topic aims to raise awareness of the risks of sharing confidential and personal information through Social Networks, asking people to ‘Think B4 U Post!’
We ask all those involved in UnLtd Sport Relief to be careful when using Social Networks and spread the awareness to your friends!!
Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Zara Mir and I am the new Communications & Awards Administrator for UnLtd Sport Relief. Am very excited about joining the team and look forward to finding out about all the fantastic things you guys have been involved with!
Just a bit of background about me… I grew up in Kent but spent three years in London studying Media which I loved. Whilst at University I worked as a Student Ambassador as well as at Fulham Football Club in which I developed my interest in Sports particularly that of football. My other interests include travelling and was fortunate enough to be selected on the DIUS Study China Programme in which 200 students from the UK spent 3 weeks in Shanghai to engage with the local people, businesses, history, language and culture of China. Was an amazing experience and one which I would highly recommend!
Most recently I have been working for BBC Asian Network but also with BBC Blast which is a scheme that runs workshops for 11-19 year olds wanting to gain experience within the arts such as Film, Dance, Visual Arts, Photography, Music, Fashion etc and all the sessions are completely free! So if you are interested in learning new skills and gaining experience perhaps for your own projects or events then check out bbc.co.uk/blast for events in your local area.
Okay I think that’s enough about me. I would love to hear from you! Am looking to update this blog regularly so if you have any stories/news about your projects or pictures/videos that you would like to include on here then please get in touch. My email is zaramir@unltd.org.uk. Hope to hear from you soon.
Bye for now
